(Wilson, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs defeated the Edenton Steamers on Thursday night 5-3. It was Wilson's fourth win in nine games against the Steamers this season.
Edenton jumped out to a 2-0 lead by the second. An error plated Kenny Oyama in the first and Rob Weissheier came home in the second on a single. The Steamers 2-0 lead held until the fourth. With two outs, Wilson loaded the bases against starter Ian Fitzgerald. Both Hunter Gore and Chase Wullenweber drew bases loaded walks to tie the game.
The Tobs grabbed the lead in the sixth. Gore doubled in Chris Meyers for Wilson's first lead of the game, 3-2. Edenton tied it as Anthony Stehlin singled home a run in the seventh. DeShawn Lookout brought home Jared Carr in the bottom of the inning to give Wilson the lead right back. Lookout later scored on another bases loaded walk.
CJ Gonzales and Taylor Soper locked down the final two innings as the Tobs found their 24th win of the season. Edenton has dropped three straight with the loss. Josh Sieglitz (2-0) earned the victory while reliever Alex Theis (1-2) was dealt the loss. Soper (3) picked up his third save in four opportunities.
