(Wilmington, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs blanked the Wilmington Sharks on Saturday night by an 11-0 final. Wilson remains perfect against teams from the East Division with an 11-0 record.
Nick Hollas was solid on the hill for the Tobs. The right hander didn't allow his first hit until the fifth inning. Wilson's starter tossed six shutout innings, striking out five and allowing just three hits and a walk.
Wilson's offense got going with two outs in the fifth inning. Hunter Gore singled to begin what was eventually seven straight batters to the plate with two outs. De'Andre Pitts singled home a pair of runs to give the Tobs a lead. Jared Carr and Chris Meyers followed suit with a pair of RBI hits.
Wilson continued their scoring ways in the following innings. Michael Calamari doubled to lead off the sixth. Kevin Jordan tripled him home one batter later. The Tobs added four more in the seventh. Hunter Gore launched a three-run home run to extend Wilson's lead to 9-0. Chase Wullenweber singled home two more in the ninth to put the finishing touches on the night. Of the Tobs' eleven runs, ten of them were scored with two outs.
Hollas (3-2) earned the victory while the loss was given to Wilmington starter Cameron Reeves (1-1). The Tobs tallied their second shutout win of the season on Saturday night 11-0.
