(Morehead City, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs routed the Morehead City Marlins with a season high seventeen hits and a 12-5 final score. The Tobs took both games this year at Big Rock Stadium, handing the Marlins two of their four losses at home this year.
It didn't take long for Wilson to grab the advantage. Jared Carr touched home after a double on a DeShawn Lookout two out single. The Tobs put up a three run second inning with three straight two out hits and a solo homer from Shamoy Christopher. Wilson held a 4-0 lead out of the second inning.
Nate Imig took to the hill for his fifth start. After two scoreless innings, Imig allowed a two-run homer to Blaze Glenn for his first long ball of the year. Wilson added a run in the fourth on a Nick Rose solo homer as he went deep for the first time and plated another three in the sixth inning.
The Tobs never trailed in the game as Wilson rattled off twelve runs on a season high seventeen hits. Shamoy Christopher homered twice and is now the first Tobs player this season two hit multiple home runs in a game. Imig (4-1) earned his fourth win of the year. The right hander has factored into the decision in every start he's had this year. Starter Doug Smith (1-2) was handed the loss after giving up five runs on seven hits over four innings. Wilson is back at the .500 mark in the second half with a 3-3 record.
