(Wilson, N.C.) – The Wilson Tobs fell to the Martinsville Mustangs on the final game of the first half by a 6-0 final. The Tobs offense left seven batters on base, four of those were in scoring position.
With one swing of the bat, Martinsville made the biggest impact. Trey Woosley sent a three-run shot to right field for his second homer of the season. The homer came in the top of the fourth inning, giving them a lead that didn't change until the top of the eighth. After three straight walks opened up the top of the inning, all three eventually came around.
Wilson's offense never came around. The Tobs left the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth, and left runners on second and third in seventh. The Tobs were shut out for the fifth time this season. Nick Hollas (1-2) gave up the home run in the fourth and took his second loss of the season. Mustangs' starter Gavin Weyman (1-0) was clean through five innings, walking four with three strikeouts earning the win.
Wilson gets back-to-back days off before gearing up for the second half on July 2 to host the Holly Springs Salamanders at 6:15 PM. It's the Tobs Independence Day Celebration with a post-game fireworks show and drink specials. It's all brought to you by Thomas Law, Wilson Community College and Budweiser.
