Ten former Tobs taken in 2019 MLB Draft

Over the course of three days, ten former Tobs were selected in the 2019 MLB Draft from June 3-5. Those ten join the other 100-plus former Tobs to be drafted by Major League teams.

Brenton Doyle was selected in the 4th round, 129th overall by the Colorado Rockies, as the highest former Tob drafted in 2019. Doyle led the team in batting average (.313), RBI, stolen bases and runs scored during his 2018 season in Wilson. This season at Shepherd University, Doyle batted .392 with 13 home runs.

Ted Stuka was selected in the 14th round, 412th overall by the Detroit Tigers. Stuka made 10 appearances and 4 starts with the Tobs in the 2017 season. A native of Newport Beach, CA, Stuka made 15 appearances and five starts at UC San Diego this past season. Over the course of his Triton career, Stuka struck out 108 batters over 93.1 innings of work.

Patrick Frick was selected in the 14th round, 426th overall by the Seattle Mariners. Frick played with the Tobs in the 2018 season. Frick batted .360 in 2019 at Wake Forrest with four home runs and 38 RBI.

Danny Cody was selected in the 17th round, 526th overall by the Houston Astros. Cody joined the Tobs for the 2018 season. He was 3-0 out of the bullpen in 22 appearances last year. A native of Medina, OH, Cody posted a 1.89 ERA over 15 games, making 13 starts this past season at Baldwin-Wallace University.

Eddy Tavarez was selected in the 21st round, 643rd overall by the Milwaukee Brewers. Tavarez played with the Tobs during the 2018 season. He pitched in 14 games (12 starts) going 8-3 with a 2.17 ERA, good for best on the team. Taverz tossed 67.1 innings this year for Peru State College, striking out 118 opposing batters.

Ethan Goforth was selected in the 25th round, 754th overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Goforth played with the Tobs during the 2016 season. The Blacksburg, VA native drove in 42 runs, batting .376 in the process this past red-shirt junior year at Carson-Newman. He went 15 for 19 in stolen bases.

Ryan Troutman was selected in the 26th round, 784th overall by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Troutman played with the Tobs in the 2018 season, making 11 appearances. Troutman was a perfect seven for seven in save opportunities this past season and Lander University.

Tyler Adams was selected in the 27th round, 810th overall by the Philadelphia Phillies. Adams was scheduled to play with the Tobs during the current 2019 season. Adams struck out 38 over 27.1 innings pitched at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Andre Nnebe was selected in the 28th round, 853rd overall by the Milwaukee Brewers. Nnebe played with the Tobs in the 2017 season. Nnebe hit five home runs in 35 games this season at Santa Clara.

Jared Janczak was selected in the 31st round, 940th overall by the Cleveland Indians. Janczak played with the Tobs in the 2015 season. Janczak was drafted last season by the Los Angeles Angels in the 32nd round but returned to TCU in 2019 for his senior year. He threw 39.1 innings, striking 33 and walking 18.
