The Wilson Tobs are excited to add a versatile group of ballplayers to their 2019 lineup. Drew DeVine (Western Michigan University), Deshawn Lookout (Missouri Baptist University), and Chris Meyers (University of Toledo) will be the newest members of the Wilson Tobs family. "I am thrilled about this group offensively and what they bring to our lineup, but even more excited that these three versatile defenders can play multiple positions at a high level. Each one of these athletes can impact a team defensively by playing anywhere on the diamond from SS to CF and even pitching," said Head Coach Bryan Hill about this diverse group.
Drew Devine is a 6'0" Junior infielder that will surely make an immediate impact for the Tobs. Devine is from Marshall, Michigan and plays at Western Michigan University. In high school Drew was a First Team All-Conference, First Team All-District and Second Team All-State player. In 2017 Drew appeared in 22 games for the Broncos, 5 of which he started. In 2018 he was one of only 2 players to play and start all 48 games. He hit .266 with a .385 slugging percentage, .361 on base percentage, and recorded a .970 fielding percentage. In the summer of 2017 Drew played for the Lake Erie Monarchs, where he batted .292 with 16 RBI's in the regular season and batted a whopping .500 in the playoffs. In 2018 Devine played summer ball for the Chillicothe Paints, where he batted .232 with 10 doubles and 21 RBI's. This year Devine is off to a hot start batting .345 with 6 Doubles, 2 Home Runs, .483 Slugging Percentage, and a .383 On Base Percentage.
DeShawn Lookout is a 6'3 Junior infielder that will be joining the Tobs. Although he plays for Missouri Baptist, Lookout is from Moore, Oklahoma. Before playing with the Spartans, Lookout played at Seminole State College. Lookout is having a great year so far with the Spartans putting together a batting average of .288, with 24 RBIs (leads the team), 3 Home Runs, a Slugging Percentage of .462, and an On Base Percentage of .345. While leading his team in RBI's Lookout could be a major contributor to the Tobs run total in 2019, especially as a power hitter, who has a talent for finding the gaps, making him a high-level threat at the plate.
Chris Meyers is a 6'3 sophomore infielder from Miamisburg, Ohio playing for the University of Toledo. As a freshman for the Rockets Meyers batted a solid .278 in 46 games of work and at one point had 21 straight games where he reached base safely. Before his time with the Rockets, Chris was a three-time letter winner at Miamisburg High School, where he was named second team All-State and earned first team All-Conference honors in 2017. As a senior Chris also earned the Greater Western Ohio Conference player of the year honors and was named to the All-Region All-Star team. To complete his remarkable senior season Chris earned the United States National Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete award in 2017. Following his Freshman season with the Rockets Meyers played summer ball for the Grand Lake Mariners in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League. For the Mariners, Chris batted a phenomenal .331 with 11 Doubles, 2 Triples, 3 Home Runs, and 20 RBI's. Currently in his Sophomore campaign with the Rockets, Meyers has batted a solid .287 with 19 RBI's and 2 Home Runs.
