Sharks Score Early and Late as Tobs Fall 6-1 in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. – A pair of three-run innings from the Wilmington on Wednesday night pushed the Sharks past the Wilson Tobs 6-1 at Buck Hardee Field in Wilmington, N.C.

Shamoy Christopher finished the night 2-for-2 at the plate with a pair of singles and one run scored for Wilson. Caleb Dean, Ben Faso, and Matt McCourt each tallied a hit in the contest for the Tobs, while Brenton Doyle delivered his ninth double of the season to plate Christopher in the top of the third inning.

David Harrison started for the Tobs and would see the Sharks plate three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Harrison would quiet the Wilmington offense over the next four innings as he exited the contest after five innings.

The Tobs plated a run in the top of the third inning as Christopher started the inning with a single to left field. Following a pair of strikeouts, Doyle drove a pitch to right center to allow Christopher to score and make it 3-1.

Wilmington would add to its lead in the bottom of the seventh inning as a bases-loaded single plated a pair of runs to make it 6-1 in favor of the sharks. Wilson would be unable to plate any runs over the final two innings as the Sharks held on for the victory.

Harrison (0-4) suffered the loss for Wilson despite fanning seven batters and walking just two. Cody Smith and Jared Gallagher each tossed a scoreless inning of relief for the Tobs.
