Mother Nature Strikes Again; Tobs and Pilots Rained Out

WILSON, N.C. – Mother Nature showed her control yet again on Tuesday night as the Wilson Tobs and Peninsula Pilots were scheduled to resume a game from July 27 that was postponed due to weather along with playing a seven-inning contest later in the evening. The resumed game would go an inning before the skies above opened up and force the tarp to cover the field.

Both games would be canceled due to weather in the area along with unplayable field conditions. The two games will not be made up as the Tobs and Pilots are not scheduled to play again in the regular season.

The Tobs are on the road Wednesday as they head to Wilmington, N.C. for a matchup with the Wilmington Sharks. The meeting will be the first of the season in Wilmington following a rainout between the two sides back on June 20. Wilson is back home on Thursday night for the final time during the regular season as the Tobs host the Edenton Steamers for Throwback Thirsty Thursday at 7 p.m. It will be Host Family & Fan Appreciation Night at the ballpark along with the Farm to Field Farmer's Market. Fans will also be able to receive a team photo courtesy of EmergeOrtho.

The Wilson Tobs enter their 22nd season as a founding member of the Coastal Plain League. The upcoming season for the Tobs will see an expanded community outreach effort, increased participation in helping the less fortunate, a Pettit Cup Championship team, and more exciting entertainment for the Wilson Community. We would like to dedicate each successful season to the Wilson Community, Coastal Plain League Organization, Host Families, Corporate Partners, and the Dedicated Fans throughout the city of Wilson. The Wilson Tobs have played host to over 100 alumni taken in the draft and have produced a dozen players who have gone on to play in the MLB, including Cy Young & MVP winner Justin Verlander.
