Wilson, NC – The Wilson Tobs inaugural Home-School vs Public School Showdown was a successful and unique experience for all who participated, as well as the local community. This event was highlighted with a three-game schedule, all of which were on Saturday April 21st.
The Tobs continued to expand their collection events for the Home Run for Hunger program with this newly implemented event. Teams were not charged an entrance fee, but instead were asked to bring canned goods to support the cause. Fans that donated canned goods received a discount day pass entry ticket, as well as a ticket for the Tobs Home Run for Hunger Celebration on Sunday, June 24th.
Six different schools, and fans, donated canned goods at this event: Eastern Christian (Washington), Wake County Home School, Farmville Central, Southeastern Home School, Southwest Edgecombe, and Raleigh Home School. Over 200+ canned goods were collected Saturday throughout this event.
In baseball action, Saturday saw Wake County Home School defeat Eastern Christian (Washington) in the first game of the Showdown 9-2. The second game had the Farmville Central team take down Southeastern Home School for a 14-8 win. The final game of the night was a battle back and forth with Southwest Edgecombe defeating Raleigh Home School by a score of 8-5.
The Tobs next Home Run for Hunger collection event will be on May 5th at 217 Brew Works during their Cinco de Mayo Celebration! Also, fans can receive a special Sub discount if they donate canned goods at Subway (Airport Rd or Raleigh Rd locations Only) from now until June 24th.
