Columbia, SC — The Wilson Tobs split a doubleheader with the Columbia Blowfish as the Tobs beat Columbia in front of 1,682 fans Saturday night at Capital City Stadium by a score of 4-1 after falling 8-2 in game one.
With the win, Wilson breaks the mark of 31 wins, their highest in their CPL history, set twice, and as recently as 2008.
Tobs starter Tim Adleman (4-4) picked up the loss in game one, while one of the newest Tobs pitchers, Frank Newcomb (2-1) pitched a complete game in game two to earn the victory.
Jake Astor paced the Tobs in the two games, going a combined 5-for-5 at the plate plus a walk.

The Wilson Tobs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its thirteenth season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
