Fayetteville, NC — The Wilson Tobs lost a 1-0 lead in the seventh inning as they allowed nine unanswered runs Fayetteville SwampDogs at J.P. Riddle Stadium Thursday night in front of 2,054 fans to beat the Tobs by a score of 5-4.
After a Bryant Lopez fielder's choice to bring home the first run of the game to break a 0-0 tie in the seventh, Fayetteville would score two in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. The SwampDogs then sent 11 men to the plate in a seven-run eighth inning to make it 9-1, ending the scoring in the game.
Frank Newcomb picked up the loss in relief for the Tobs, working 1.1 innings in relief of starter Jeff Brown, who pitched six scoreless innings to fall to 1-1. Josh Bagley of Fayetteville picked up the win, his second of the season. Lee Zerrusen came on in the eighth to pick up his 14th save of the season.

The Wilson Tobs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its thirteenth season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
