Wilson, NC — The Wilson Tobs got two home runs from Bobby Leeper, and a three-run homer from Matt Johns as the Tobs beat the Columbia Blowfish in front of 2,947 fans Thursday night at Fleming Stadium by a score of 10-0.
In was the 5th time the Tobs have thrown a shutout this season. They have only been shutout twice.
The Tobs got five runs in the first two innings off of Blowfish starter Tyler McBride, all of which came via the home run with two outs. Johns got a 3-1 fastball and launched it over the left-center field wall in the first inning for a three-run homer, his first of the season to give the Tobs a 3-0 lead. Leeper would follow in the ensuing inning with a two-run shot of his own, his fourth of the season to give the Tobs a 5-0 lead.
Leeper paced the Tobs with four hits, including a second home run in the ballgame, his fifth, tying him for the team lead. The All-Star center-fielder finished a triple shy of hitting for the cycle.

The Tobs head to Florence to take on the RedWolves, then return home to face Florence again in the second half of a home and home series on Saturday, July 25 beginning at 7:05pm. The Tobs will be celebrating Miller Lite Night at the ballpark. The Wilson Tobs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its thirteenth season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
