Wilson washed out in FlorenceJuly 23, 2008 Florence, SC — The Tobs’ All Star Break was extended for one more day thanks to bad weather. Wednesday night’s contest between the Wilson Tobs and the Florence RedWolves was postponed due to severe thunderstorms at American Legion Field in Florence, South Carolina. The game was officially called at approximately 8:10 PM. Alex Meyer (Georgetown) was scheduled to pitch for the Tobs, and Rob Kumbatovic (Hofstra) would have been on the hill for Florence. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Tuesday night when Wilson makes its final trip of the season to Florence. The Tobs return home Thursday night as they play host to Florence at Historic Fleming Stadium on Thirsty Thursday. Great seats are still available, with gates scheduled to open at 6:05 PM. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM, and radio coverage begins at 6:45 PM on the Coastal Plain League WebPass and WUBN 106.9 FM with Eric Kopp. The Wilson Tobs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its twelfth season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
