2008 National CPL All-Star Team announcedJuly 16, 2008 Raleigh, NC — The Coastal Plain League announced today the roster for the 2008 National CPL All-Star Team. The Coastal Plain League’s tenth annual All-Star Game will be played at McCrary Park in Asheboro, N.C. on Tuesday, July 22nd. The National Team features players from 11 CPL clubs (Asheboro, Edenton, Fayetteville, Forest City, Gastonia, Martinsville, Peninsula, Petersburg, Thomasville, Wilmington and Wilson), with the players being selected by head coaches and media representatives from all clubs. The National roster is comprised of 24 players, highlighted by seven Player of the Week selections: first baseman Doug Kroll (Week 2), and outfielders Sonny Meade (Week 3), Brett Nommensen (Week 4), and C.J. Beatty (Week 6), as well as pitchers Luke Demko (Week 2 and 3), Justin Sarratt (Week 3, 4, and 6) and Kevin Moreland (Week 5). The Asheboro Copperheads, in conjunction with the Coastal Plain League, will host the All-Star Game and festivities beginning on Monday, July 21st and running thru Tuesday, July 22nd.
