Wilson, NC — The Wilson Tobs rode a fantastic start from Taylor Miller as they beat the Wilmington Sharks in front of 1,769 fans at Fleming Stadium by a final score of 4-1 on Friday night.
Miller (1-2) was outstanding in spinning seven, two-hit, one-run innings en route to his first win of 2009. Jeff Brown pitched the final two innings in the contest to pick up his first save of the season.
At the plate, designated hitter Jake Astor went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and third baseman Zach Johnson had two hits to pace the Tobs in the victory.
The Tobs will travel to Wilmington to take on the Sharks at Fleming Stadium on Saturday night. First pitch is set for 7:05pm. The Tobs will then take a day off before returning home for a Monday night contest against the Florence RedWolves beginning at 7:05pm. The Tobs will be celebrating the Thomas & Farris Legends of the Tobs Giveaway Series, this time with a commemorative piece dedicated to Tobs head coach Jeff Steele (First 200 Fans).
