"Tobs Talk" segments give fans a chance to learn more about Tobs' personalitiesJune 12, 2008 Wilson, NC — One of the newest ways for Wilson fans to learn more about their players, coaching staff, and Fleming Stadium personalities is through the "Tobs Talk" segment located on the Wilson Tobs website, a new edition for the 2008 season. The interview segments, lasting anywhere from 2 to 10 minutes, can be visited on the Internet at http://wilsontobs.com/interviews/index.shtml. Radio broadcaster Eric Kopp will sit down with guests a few times each week and add the interview audio file to the website periodically. "Our entire organization is thrilled that Eric has taken it upon himself to give our fan base a little more of an insight into what our players and staff members are like," said Tobs' GM Ben Jones. "It is just another way that visitors to our site can find out a little bit more about their favorite athletes that they see on the filed, but do not normally get to talk to." The Tobs are one of the few Coastal Plain League teams that broadcasts every single game on the radio. In addition to their home games that can be heard on the Coastal Plain League WebPass, their home and away games can be heard locally on WUBN 106.9 FM, broadcasting out of Wilson. The Tobs Talk section of the Wilson Tobs' official website is already expanding, with eight interviews located on the page already. Some of these segments include Senior Advisor Mike Edwards, manager Jeff Steele, assistant coach Cory Conrad, and former Tob Jerry Sands, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 26th round of the 2008 MLB draft. "This is such a great idea because it gives you a little bit more insight into the lives of some of these players," said Tobs' fan Jane Tyson. "It might help you learn something you don't know about some of these people. 'Tobs Talk' makes them feel a little bit more like family!" The Wilson Tobs are a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its twelfth season, the Coastal Plain League features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
