Tobs announce Steve Hardy's 2nd Annual Legends of Beach Music FestivalApril 25, 2008 Wilson, NC — On Saturday, June 7th, the Wilson Tobs, along with Bobby Murray Toyota of Rocky Mount and the Wilson Daily Times, will host Steve Hardy's Original Beach Party at Historic Fleming Stadium for the second straight year. The event commemorates the 34th anniversary of the Beach Party. Hardy is featured as a disc jockey on 107.9 WNCT-FM every Sunday from 5 to 10 PM. We picked Wilson because it is the heart of Eastern North Carolina," Hardy said. "Fleming Stadium, which has such a tremendous history and legacy, is the perfect location for us to celebrate our Beach Party's 34th anniversary. Last year was a tremendous success, and this is better than any other spot." Gates will open at 10:00 AM at Fleming Stadium, and fans will hear four different beach music bands. Featured are General Johnson and The Chairmen of the Board, The Band of Oz, The Craig Wooland Band, and The Holiday Band. Tickets are available at the Wilson Tobs' office at Fleming Stadium, or at other locations. Tobs General Manager Ben Jones expressed the excitement of Wilson for hosting the event. "The Tobs are delighted to have Steve back for a second year," said Jones. "It is a great event for the community and the local economy. It's really a fun day for people of all ages at Historic Fleming Stadium, and that's what we are all about." There will be plenty of food and refreshments available at Fleming Stadium during the Original Beach Party. No coolers will be permitted. Wilson will host its home opener on Friday, May 30 against the Florence RedWolves, with first pitch also scheduled for 7:05 PM. The Wilson Tobs are a member franchise of the Coastal Plain League. With fourteen teams in the Carolinas and Virginia, the league attracts top players from collegiate programs throughout the country. The Tobs play all of their home games at Historic Fleming Stadium.
